It’s time to unleash your creativity with the new “Effect Creator Rewards”.
What in the virtual world is the TikTok AR Creator Fund?
Let me break it down for you. Through its Effect House tool, the popular platform will pay individuals who create widely-used augmented reality effects. At first glance, this whooping $6 million fund will only be available in certain countries, including US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. You must also be 18 and over.
How can I get paid?
Firstly, payouts from the fund are based on engagement, therefore effects made will need to meet a high threshold before creators become eligible to make a profit. As it currently stands, you will earn $700 for each individual effect that is used in 500,000 unique videos within a 90-day period of being published. The maximum payment a creator can earn in a month is $50,000. To contextualize this, for every 100,000 videos posted with the effect within the same time period, you the creator will earn $140. Some would argue that it’s an unreasonable standard to meet for a relatively small ‘reward’.
TikTok has previously provided numerous programs to reward creators, however, all are seemingly having the same theme. Low payouts. Prominent creators such as YouTube sensation Mr. Beast, posted proof of their small TikTok earnings.
In comparison to Snapchat-maker Snap Inc, this fund is already offering 70% more. However, both programs are still relatively small in comparison to TikTok’s $1 billion Creator Fund and YouTube’s $100 million Shorts Fund.
