In an exciting development that promises to reshape K-12 education, McGraw Hill and Verizon have joined forces to expand their augmented reality capabilities for immersive learning experiences. As we continue to see AR taking over other industries, the education sector coming next is no surprise. Their groundbreaking AR apps have already made waves in classrooms, captivating students’ imaginations and transforming the way they engage with educational content. Now, with new updates on the horizon, the future of education is posed for even greater advancements.
Who are McGraw Hill and Verizon?
Being a leading global education company, McGraw Hill partners with an immense pool of educators, learners and professionals. They strive to create equity, accessibility and inclusion for all when it comes to education. Similarly, Verizon is an award-winning education initiative that addresses barriers to digital inclusion for students as well as teachers. They provide free technology, internet access and learning programmes to students in under-resourced communities. So what is their involvement with AR technology?
K-12 App Improvements
After a successful launch of an AR mobile app, McGraw Hill has announced that their free, award-winning app will be getting some exciting updates. So far, their app offers short interactive activities which are tailored to engage students in impactful ways. With the aid of Verizon, professionally developed lesson plans are exclusively available to K-12 educators.
“Since the app’s launch last summer, it’s been amazing to see how it has fostered excitement and engagement in both students and teachers. As more educators and learners embrace AR and its benefits, we will continue enhancing the app’s offerings to improve the collaborative functions of the activities and make it available to more people than ever before”. – Shawn Smith, Chief Innovation Officer for McGraw Hill’s School group.
We can expect to see new disciplines and functionality in the app updates. It will expand to include new science-related courses and maths activities that build upon the already existing library. Furthermore, a new multi-language feature will be introduced. As well as a new group functionality for select lessons which will enable more collaborative learning for students either in classrooms or learning remotely.
As McGraw Hill and Verizon push the boundaries of AR in education, we can anticipate a future where immersive technologies become an integral part of the classroom. AR has the potential to transform education into a captivating journey of discovery, where students become active participants in their own learning. Are you ready for this new wave of teaching?
